Newport CC riders acquitted themselves well at the fantastic inaugural Shrewsbury Grand Prix on Sunday.
Rosemary Homer was up against it in a race dominated by Olympic Gold Medallist Jo Rowsell and National Circuit series leader Harriet Owen. Rosie was holding position halfway down the field when she punctured. Although she was allowed a lap out to change wheels, the brakes weren’t connecting properly with the replacement wheel and her race was effectively over from that point.
Ben Goddard did a superb ride in a hotly contested 3rd & 4th Cat race. Ben made the break in the opening laps and although he was forced back to the chasing group, he still managed to claim 10th place.
A great performance in an event where most of the field were lapped and consequently eliminated. It was also great to see our riders getting so much support from their club mates. Thanks everyone!
