Volunteers Needed for Alan Goddard Road Race

This coming Sunday, 23rd July, is the Alan Goddard Memorial Road Race and we need your help!

We need marshals, signing-on staff and catering staff.  The marshalling is likely to be more straightforward than in previous years, because each of the three corners has a team of Accredited Marshals operating a traffic control (Stop/Go signs).  As we won’t be dealing with traffic, our main job will be to direct the riders. Easy!

Race start is at 0930 and we’ll need people at the race HQ for 0845 for a briefing.  As the race is a flat 66 mile affair, it should only take around two and a half hours. We will also have club members Chris Carter andf Charlie Fisher to cheer on.

The course is quite nearby and is based around Ellerdine Heath (nr Waters Upton). The race HQ is: Ellerdine Village Hall, Ellerdine Heath, Nr Shawbury, Shropshire, TF6 6QT

For those of you new to the club, Alan was a founding member of Newport CC and in recent years, the President.  Alan was the husband of our ex Club Treasurer Deanna and also the father of Richard, the race organiser.
T he race is the penultimate round of the West Midlands Road Race League. Please step up and help us with this important event by volunteering to help.
